Romantic blush wedding at Pynes House in Exeter, Devon

The first time arriving at Pynes House, feels like being on a film set. A long tree lined drive beckons you in to the secluded escape. I could feel the luxury as my tyres crunched over the gravel to the reveal the most picturesque country house with perfectly manicured gardens and the fountain gently running beneath huge sash windows. Stylish and historical hand in hand.

Claire and Angelo were both in the house for their morning preparations and with 12 guest bedrooms, it was easy to keep to tradition and not see each other ahead of the ceremony. The light, bright suite accommodated all of Claire’s morning prep team and Bridesmaids. And while they sipped champagne, the ballroom was being decorated with floral arrangements in an elegant and timeless blush pink and white colour scheme. Emma Hewlett created some dreamy low table centre pieces which allowed for everyone to easily chat and complimented the room’s neutral, pale tones.

When she was ready and escorted by her Dad, Claire made her way down the grand staircase to Angelo patiently waiting in the Devon spring sunshine at the front of the house. His choice of a tailored, 3 piece suit with black tie was perfect. The buttery silk of Claire’s Suzanne Neville gown and her stunning long veil wafted gently in the breeze.

Guests enjoyed sipping cold champagne in the sun with 4 Tissimo and their string quartet creating a perfect ambiance. Pickle Shack served an abundance of delicious canapé in the garden. Sitting among the roses, smelling the lavender in full bloom, it was the epitome of a quintessential English Country House.

After being moved in to the ballroom to be seated everyone was treated to heartfelt and emotional speeches. All with lots of wit and sincerity, Claire’s Dad and Husband both making clear how incredibly proud of her they were and Angelo’s sister congratulating them both and welcoming the joining of the families.

Some clouds rolled in on the edge of the hills as we went for some portrait shots at the front of the house. The tree lined avenue was the perfect backdrop and Claire and Angelo both now ready for less formality and a bit more fun, were happy and playful. They opted to have their first dance outside before partying the rest of the night away in the marquee.
